Hi Melissa, Aida,

Here is some suggested text for the comments box when we submit the url for the Pioneer wiki.

Dr. M,

Here is the URL for our Pioneer School Library librarian’s homepage:

http://twupioneerschoollibrary.pbworks.com/w/page/38932356/E_Dimple

Note: When assessing our wikispaces, please know that our early negotiations and work are mainly located on the “Planning” Page. Essentially, we had six total pages that we have discussions recorded, but we switched to the three main pages (Home, Course Content, Personal Content) several weeks into working on the project.

Thank you,

How are you?

I just sent you and Melissa two emails

me: Hi

How are you?

I'm good.

A little exasperated

hickeyk73: Why are you exasperated?

me: My collab lessons now has comments on it.

hickeyk73: By the way, I really like your logo/slogan placement in our Glog, and I like the audio you added.

me: Did you get to put yours on new pages?

hickeyk73: Don't worry about it.

I did not. I just deleted the comments after getting Carrie's permission to do so.

So they are still there.

me: Thank you. I thought the sun burst was appropriate.

hickeyk73: Dr. M said in her reply to me that those who get comments later can delete them after turning in the Assignment.

I don't know why I said "so they are still there."

I think I meant, I did not have to change the link.

me: I thought she meant those that get comments after they turn in the assignment

That's what I thought you meant.

hickeyk73: If you just now get comments, you guys have to have a chance to look at them, but that is something you could ask her in an email or the discussion board.

I don't know exactly.

I sent you and Melissa the filled out rubric.

and I sent you a suggested text for the url comments.

me: I'm opening it now.

hickeyk73: Wanted you both to look at.

Oh, and I added some of our past week's email to the Personal Content page Discussion Tabs section.

mgarrison6 has opened the document.

hickeyk73: I reviewed our Pioneer wiki, and I took out two commas before "and" in the Course Content intros.

mgarrison6: hi

hickeyk73: Hi Melissa!

I was just telling Aida that I sent you both two emails.

mgarrison6: yes, I was just opening the rubric

hickeyk73: One with filled out rubric and one with suggested text for us to put in the comments section when submitting the Pioneer url.

me: Hi Melissa! How are you?

mgarrison6: Hi Aida, fine thanks

me: That text will make it easy to cut and paste.

hickeyk73: The url I submitted on the rubric for our wikispaces page was the main page url. Let me know if you think that is appropriate.

me: It should be ok

hickeyk73: Good.

I am practically singing with excited over officially turning this assignment in.

me: That way she can see right off that there were other pages we worked on in getting started in line with the comment we put in the comment box.

hickeyk73: You are right, Aida, because we put a link to all the pages on that main page.

mgarrison6: I think that page is good too

hickeyk73: Great.

Are we ready to turn this in now? Or do we need to go over anything else?

mgarrison6: I think its ready to be submitted! Thanks to you both for your work on the brochure last night.

hickeyk73: Are you ever just a little nervous when it comes time to release your assignment into the grader's hands? I get nervous.

me: Yes!

mgarrison6: yes, I know what you mean!

hickeyk73: We definitely need to keep in touch ever so often.

Connections in the library and educational world are important.

me: Especially after the comments Dr. M made on A.4.2

mgarrison6: yes, and feel free to ask me about the TEXES test

hickeyk73: I understand about the comments. I think that we will get our grade for that tomorrow.

I am a bit nervous.

me: Now I'm making calculations of how bad these final grades can be and still keep my A

hickeyk73: Thanks Melissa.

mgarrison6: I have a lot of comments on mine too

both good and bad

hickeyk73: Aida, I did the same thing after seeing my comments the other day. Too funny.

mgarrison6: I'm not too worried about that. She has always graded really fair.

hickeyk73: I will be really curious to find out our grade for this assignment. I am proud of the work we have accomplished.

mgarrison6: I am too

me: Ok, so who will turn in what?

hickeyk73: I think one person the rubric? And two others the url with the comments

mgarrison6: Katie, why don't you do the rubric

hickeyk73: Okahy

Okay

Shall I do it now?

me: Go right on ahead.

mgarrison6: we do the Pioneer URL?

hickeyk73: And let you know that it is officially submitted?

Okay, give a sec.

me: Yes

and yes

mgarrison6: ok

not the wikispaces

me: Pioneer

mgarrison6: ok

me: Pioneer homepage.

mgarrison6: ok

me: Katie included it in the email with the comment to put in the box

mgarrison6: ok

I see it, great

hickeyk73: Hi guys! I just submitted the rubric. It is official.

mgarrison6: yay!

me: Yeah!

Ok , who's next

?

mgarrison6: you go

me: Ok here i go

hickeyk73: Do both of you want to submit the url with the comments? Just move my name out of the closure and put in parenthesis.

She needs you both to submit I think for you to be registered in the gradebook.

me: Wait

hickeyk73: I feel stupid.

Duh, you both knew that.

mgarrison6: yes

hickeyk73: Sorry (said sheepishly)

mgarrison6: no problem

it's that nervousness about submitting creeping in

:)

me: I just re-read the M.4.3 instructions for turning in A.4.3 and it is the one that says for two people to turn in the rubric

mgarrison6: oh

me: The original instructions was for two people to turn in the URL

hickeyk73: I know, and in another place, it says for one to do the rubric and two to do the urls.

me: How about I turn in both

hickeyk73: Sure.

me: I don't mind living dangerously

mgarrison6: that sounds good

lol

hickeyk73: :)

me: oK her goes

Ladies I made this additional comment:

mgarrison6: ok

me: "The assignment sheet instructs for one person to turn in the Rubric and two to turn in the Pioneer School Library librarian's homepage URL. The Module 4.3 instructions for this assignment instruct for one person to turn in the URL and two to turn in the Rubric. Not being sure which way to turn it in I volunteered to do both to cover both sets of instructions. Aida"

mgarrison6: that sounds good

hickeyk73: That is great, Aida!

me: It has been submitted

mgarrison6: Ok, my turn

hickeyk73: Then, she knows why we did it that way.

Okay.

Exciting.....

mgarrison6: ok, It is submitted! Yippee!!!!!!!!!

hickeyk73: Yay!

We are done!

me: Yay!

hickeyk73: High fives and pats on the back.

me: Ditto. All aroud!

around

hickeyk73: Just one more week of discussion boards, and then we will be officially finished for the semester.

Can not wait!

me: And you graduate!

hickeyk73: Good job, ladies.

Yes!

me: We did very well.

mgarrison6: Awesome job!!! You both are wonderful collaborators!

hickeyk73: We did.

me: And so are you two.

hickeyk73: Ditto

me: :)

Do we get to play hooky the rest of the night?

hickeyk73: I think I will.

I rented The King's Speech and am going to watch it.

me: Or should I be good and catch up on the reading assignments?

mgarrison6: I heard it was really good

me: Oh enjoy!

mgarrison6: take the night off...remember...live dangerously!

hickeyk73: Aida, I think you should enjoy one night of rest, and then catch up tomorrow.

me: Yes, I think I will

hickeyk73: Okay, ladies.

I guess this is it for now.

Anyone want the last dibs on putting in this last transcript into our wiki?

me: Melissa, don't forget to let us know how TEXES turns out.

If you don't mind

hickeyk73: Oh yes, I want to know.

mgarrison6: Have a great weekend! I will let you know Monday evening.

I'm subbing,

hickeyk73: Have a good weekend as well.

mgarrison6: but I won't look until I get home

hickeyk73: good idea

me: I'll post it.

hickeyk73: Okay, cool.

mgarrison6: thanks for posting

hickeyk73: Thanks so much, Aida.

Take care guys

mgarrison6: good night!

Melissa could not join us tonight but is being emailed that transcript is available.

me: Hi Katie.

hickeyk73: Hi

How are you?

me: Doing well. And you?

hickeyk73: I haven't removed the comments yet from my partner's wikipage for my linked lesson. I sent her an email asking her permission. I think I am going to just going to do what I had planned initially and move it over to a newly created wiki page and relink.

I am good.

Did you see my email to Dr. M about the marking tool?

I don't know if I phrased it exactly the way I should have.

me: It probably would save some grief to just copy the lesson onto another wiki page. That way you don't have to fool with the history.

hickeyk73: Yes, I think I will do that. I will do it after our meeting.

me: I saw the email you sent on the brochure. So no response yet?

hickeyk73: She sent us a response, but just said based on my email, that it seemed fine. She had not had a chance to look at it at that moment cause she was at a car dealership. That is why I hoped I asked her the right question and explained it well enough.

me: Hm.

I don't know.

It seemed clear enough to me.

hickeyk73: Okay, great.

You want to go over the rubric?

me: Since we have this concern

hickeyk73: Yep?

me: I started reviewing all the documents available that gives ideas, instructions, etc for this assignemt

asignment

hickeyk73: So what's the consensus on what you reviewed?

me: The assignement sheet has a very interesting statement that causes me more concern.

hickeyk73: What is that?

me: In the section "Assignment-ON GOING ...

"

bullet 8 says

hickeyk73: I see it.

me: "Create a marketing tool...to promote one or more roles and responsibilities of the school librarian and the library program

"

hickeyk73: So what do you think we need to do at this point?

I guess when we created it I thought that by linking the personal information, the Glog and the things the librarian does as well as the collaboration section that we covered it, but maybe not?

That is why I was hoping she would look at it.

Maybe we could change some of the wording in the brochure to make it more overtly related to this.

me: That

's what I was thinking.

I'm looking at the Perez sample

hickeyk73: Like insert the phrase in several of the sections that we are there to collaborate and co-teach?

And support?

I saw that.

I am going from memory. I

me: and her brochure is really like an advertisement in the information it contains.

Ours is more informational\\

hickeyk73: Do we want to just go ahead and quickly create a bookmark to handout to teachers that outlines the role of the librarian.

me: Maybe

on one side can be the roles

and on the other side communication information?

hickeyk73: I think ours is a marketing tool. That is the very nature of the brochure. It is informing our patrons and teachers what we are offering for them, but it is not focusing so much on what our roles and responsibilities are as a school librarian throughout.

It does do that on the Collaboration Is Key! section, which I thought helped meet this criteria initially, but now, I don't know.

What about other people's marketing tools?

I need to see what others have done.

me: I'm just now opening our brochure to see what we may be able to tweek

hickeyk73: For me, when looking at the rubric, it says, "The marketing tool is targeted for a specific audience. It capitalizes on the slogan andn provides exemplary examples of ways the school librarian serves as an instructional partner."

I think we show ways that we serve as an instructional partner throughout.

In the services we offer, the programs, the up-coming events, the collaboration is key section.

Let me open it up as well.

Okay, I have it open.

me: I think the Library Services section is good. It tells what roles are played by librarian and library

I agree that the Collaborattion is Key section meets the criteria

hickeyk73: Suggestion 1: Under top left section, we could write under the "May Library Lessons & Story Time," something like, (Set up a time with your librarian to collaborate, lesson plan, and let me help you support your curriculum)

Good

Do we want to change library to librarian in the Library Services section?

Say, Our librarian offers the following...

for our teachers and larger educational community.

Add in teachers in front of educational community.

me: Maybe "Our librarian and library program...

hickeyk73: That is good.

me: ...for our teachers and edudcational community.

"

Lol

hickeyk73: Like it!

me: Do you want me to do it?

hickeyk73: Yes please.

me: Oh

maybe at the end of that section say

another bullet with

Librarian/Teacher collaboration

hickeyk73: Perfect

me: ok I'm going in.

hickeyk73: Also, in the section feature Hypatia,

We could put a comma after her name, Dimple, and say, "Hypatia Opal Dimple, a leader, a teacher, a collaborator, and a librarian.

I don't know...that may be cheesy, but it gets more of those roles injected into the brochure

me: Give me a sec on that one

Ok

hickeyk73: Oh sure.

me: I put in Librarian/Teacher lesson collaboration

hickeyk73: and if you don't like where I suggested putting it or don't want to that is fine as well

me: I'm having technical difficulties

hickeyk73: Uh oh.

what is happening?

me: Actually some of the text fell off and I'm trying to get it back where it is visible

hickeyk73: Oh, because we typed beyond the box boundaries?

me: I.E. the box is to small for the amount of text

hickeyk73: Gotcha

me: I'm making adjustments

hickeyk73: I have troubles with that kind of thing

Okay. I can wait; I have the time.

me: Ok that section is done.

hickeyk73: Yay!

Good job formatting guru

me: What was that other idea?

Thank you very much

hickeyk73: In the section feature Hypatia, here is an idea I threw out, but we may want to tweak it or not go with it:We could put a comma after her name, Dimple, and say, "Hypatia Opal Dimple, a leader, a teacher, a collaborator, and a librarian. I don't know...that may be cheesy, but it gets more of those roles injected into the brochure

Or, a 21st-Century Library

I don't know.

I thought that may be a good page to do it, but we also link to the Portrait of a Collaborator, which I think does that as well.

me: Maybe make a roles section with that information in it?

hickeyk73: Sure

That is a good idea. Can you make it fit?

me: The interests could be consolidated to two bullets

M, A, P, R and L

and

I have been

...

I'm going to try

hickeyk73: Okay, consolidating those is a good idea.

me: Q,\\: should the interests all be capitalized or just the first word in each bullet

?

hickeyk73: I think just the first word in the bullet since none of those are proper nouns

me: Ok. that part is done, I'm now adding in the roles and responsibilities section

hickeyk73: Okay, you are motoring through this. Nice work

me: "My Roles and Responsibilities:"

bullet

"Leader, teacher, librarian, and collaborator"

hickeyk73: I like it!

Yes

me: Ok

hickeyk73: Perfect

me: now I need to get the poem back in there

hickeyk73: what about adding, instructional supporter

Oh, let's leave what you had then.

Maybe reduce the font size on that a bit?

me: Hmmmm

hickeyk73: Do you think we should delete it?

I just had it cause it tied in with the logo/slogan

me: One more line to go...the author's name

hickeyk73: Whooohooo! You are working your formatting magic.

It is a skill I admire.

I need to develop that skill more.

me: Got it! Woo hoo!

hickeyk73: Congratulations!

You are a rockstar!

I could have done it, but it probably would have taken two to three times as long.

me: Any other thoughts on brochure adjustments before I send it to you to see?

hickeyk73: Let me look one more time.

I just noticed something in the bottom middle section.

Read the last paragraph. I think there is a mistake in the latter part of that paragraph that I am just now noticing

"who value collaborative learning as much as their teachers and librarians do."

I think "librarians" is a typo.

me: Yep

hickeyk73: I think we should reword to "who value learning as much as their teachers and parents do."

I would get rid of collaborative in the latter part of that sentence because not all teachers or parents value collaborative learning.

me: I don't know...

hickeyk73: What do you want to do there?

me: some parents don't value reading or learning

and the preservice teachers and administrators that are our audience may realize that

hickeyk73: Okay, so maybe we can just assume the parents we are talking about do value both reading, learning, and collaboration and just exchange out librarians for parents.

me: so would teachers that the brochure is geared to

hickeyk73: Okay, so maybe we could say

me: how about

hickeyk73: "we also want to be a part of turning our students into life-long learners with a passion for reading and who value collaborative learning."

get red of last line

That may be best.

me: "as much as, if not more than, their teachers, librarian, and parents do."

and leave out the "colalborative"

so would be "who value learning"

hickeyk73: We can do your suggestion. What do you think about mine?

Do you think we would insult the teachers and parents by saying, "if not more than"

me: So

"we also want to be a part of turning our students into life-long learners with a passion for reading and who value "

hickeyk73: We could say, "we also want to be a part of turning our students into life-long learners with a passion for reading and strong technological and collaborative skills that will help them succeed in a 21st-Century world.

me: I like that better

hickeyk73: Okay.

me: I'm going in

hickeyk73: alrighty...excited

I am glad you asked about this brochure last night and that we decided to make some final revisions.

me: Done

hickeyk73: Awesome1

That was supposed to be an exclamation point on the end of that word.

Okay, ready to post for us to view?

me: One last thing

hickeyk73: Yep?

me: Do you know how to get rid of the squiggles?

hickeyk73: What squiggles? Where?

me: I forgot that they'd be there since this is a Word document

hickeyk73: Oh, like the grammar squiggles?

I don't know.

Can this be saved as a pdf?

me: Yes, spelling and grammar squiggles

hickeyk73: I don't know how pdf works.

me: I don't have the tool to do it here at home. For the resume I did it at work and sent it out from there.

hickeyk73: I do not know how to do that. I wonder if there is a way to lock the document and that would do it.

What tool was it?

me: the one at work is called CutePDF

instead of saving you print to CutePDF and it lets you save it as pdf

hickeyk73: Is that a downloaded tool?

me: I have no idea.

hickeyk73: Okay, if you can post the most recent draft you did, I think I can save it to a pdf because I just looked, and i have that capability.

me: I'm pretty sure there is a way of turning off the squiggles feature but I'm not finding it.

hickeyk73: Not the cute thing, but it let me save RD 7 as a pdf.

me: Oh , great

One moment please

hickeyk73: Funny. I didn't know I could do that.

Okay

me: It's attaching to the email now.

When you get it walk me through what you do to see if maybe I can do it too and just didn't know it.

don't

:)

hickeyk73: I just went to Save As and then clicked on where it said "Word Document" and a list of document types pulled up and one was pdf.

me: still attaching

hickeyk73: so I selected that one.

me: sending

I included Melissa on the email

hmmm

let me see if i can do that

hickeyk73: Okay. I am pulling up your attachment now while you do that.

me: Hmm

I'm having to download something but it just my work

hickeyk73: Great.

I also just emailed you back the pdf version of the brochure.

Will you check and make sure it worked?

me: Opening it now

hickeyk73: Great!

me: Yeah! It looks good. no squiggles!

hickeyk73: I am so glad.

me: Do you want to attach it to the wikis or shall I?

hickeyk73: Okay, so I just need to add that to our wikispaces wiki and the pioneer wiki.

Before we move on, may I ask you how you and Melissa changed the page names?

I guess page name links?

Carrie, my A.4.2 partner said her and her group need help with this.

She asked if I knew or could ask you.

me: Hold on a sec while I open Pioneer wiki up and see what i did

hickeyk73: Oh, thanks so much Aida.

me: On page with link

edit

hickeyk73: Yep.

In upper toolbar?

me: yep

hickeyk73: Okay

me: highlight link words

hickeyk73: So type the new page name and highlight those words?

me: Yes

hickeyk73: Okay

me: or if the link already exists highlight the old and change it to what want

tool bar

Add link

browse pages & files

hickeyk73: Okay

me: search or scroll until find page want to link to

pick it

if want it to open in a new window pick that

then

Insert Link

and the new link should be done

hickeyk73: Great! Thanks so much. I will send these instructions to her.

me: glad to be of help

hickeyk73: Want to go over the rubric now?

I imagine you have already done so.

I read through it earlier today.

me: Yes I have

Three times

ODC

hickeyk73: :)

me: sigh

hickeyk73: How are you feeling so far?

Do you feel we are nearing the end?

me: Pretty good

hickeyk73: I need to add that pdf brochure link.

Okay.

me: I haven't looked

hickeyk73: anything you think of that we have forgotten to do?

me: Is Mary and my prezi put in?

Do I need to do that?

hickeyk73: Carrie just said I could delete the comments on her wiki, so I am just going to do that.

Then I do not have to relink the lesson plan.

Oh, I don't know. Let me look.

me: Yep. There it is

hickeyk73: I see it.

Yay!

me: I just fixed a space error

on it

hickeyk73: I saw that.

me: on the rubric

for elevator speech

hickeyk73: yes.

The first page or second?

me: do we have the documentation of collaboration on it?

hickeyk73: There are two places where it talks about the elevator speech.

I think the page itself shows the revisions we inserted.

me: Content:Artifacts

Nope

hickeyk73: I don't know if we documented it in our discussion tab or not.

me: try

Text: Elevator speech

Never mind

hickeyk73: If you look on the planning page, you will see where it shows that we collaborated on it.

me: Our collaboration is shown by the different colors of text

Ok

so i can check that off

hickeyk73: We may need to mention in the text box when we turn it in that we started planning there and that is where a lot of the initial negotiation began--on th eplanning page and ont he A.4.2 link

good

I love checking things off.

me: In the text box?

hickeyk73: You know, when we submit an assignment, there is always a place to put comments? (I cal it a text box, but I meant comment box).

me: Ohhh

there

hickeyk73: When I want to give her more clarification, I do it there.

me: Ok that's a good idea

hickeyk73: My understanding is when we turn it in, one does the rubric, and the other submits the urls?

I mean others submit the urls?

So two people turn in the same thing--the urls?

me: Hold on while I look for that

hickeyk73: Okay.

me: The Assignment Sheet says

"One member of the team will submit Rubric 4.3 ... with the top part completed via the Assignment tool in Module 4.3.

The other member or members of the team will submit the URL for your Pioneer Shcool Library librarian's homepage."

The Module 4.3 instructions say:

hickeyk73: I take it from that, that two people submit the url for library home page.

me: "One person will turn in the link to your Pioneer School Library pages. The other(s) will turn in the rubric with the top portion completed."

So

in one place two people turn in the URL

hickeyk73: Okay

me: in the other place two people turn in the rubric

So probably to be on the safe side

hickeyk73: Oh, I am confused now.

me: one turns in the URL

hickeyk73: on the turn in directions.

me: on turns in the rubric

hickeyk73: I always get confused.

me: and one turns in both

hickeyk73: I always get confused.

:)

Okay

me: Confusion dispelled?

hickeyk73: Yes.

me: ok

hickeyk73: "dispelled" love that word and haven't heard it in awhile

me: I have everything on the rubric checked off

dispelled could be misspelled

disspelled???

hickeyk73: I like the first one, but who knows?

I have used the word; don't think I have ever written it down.

Any other questions that came up for you?

me: me neither

How do you feel about the rubric?

hickeyk73: I feel good.

me: Are we confident we have no grammar or spelling errors/

?

hickeyk73: I think we may need to let her know which page to find where we negotiated the name, instructional level, slogan, etc, but I feel good.

me: Ok

hickeyk73: I am confident that it is good, but I will give it another review tomorrow before we meet.

I find that I don't always see the errors the first or second time.

me: so each of us should make that comment in the comment box? or just the ones turning in URL?

hickeyk73: Like with the brochure tonight.

I say, let's all three do it.

me: Ok

all three

hickeyk73: We can draft a common message and copy and paste in

me: remind me?

Ok that's good

hickeyk73: I will

me: I was also perusing the additional Q to consider from the announcements

hickeyk73: Want to close for the night?

me: There are parts there I'm not sure about

hickeyk73: Shoot

me: "How will you introduce each resource?"

Do we have good intros to everthign?

thing

hickeyk73: That is what the small introductions before each link are for.

I think so.

me: Good check

"Have you included your slogan as branding on ALL of your Wiki pages and documents?"

I'm thinking of the resume and the glogster

hickeyk73: Oh.

You know what?

I didn't think of the resume or glogster.

I don't think we need it on the resume.

Glogster might be good

I know you guys have it on all the pages.

me: I will try to add it to the glogster

hickeyk73: I don't think it would work to add to our collaborative lessons.

me: Does the animoto have it?

hickeyk73: The main document we created was the brochure, and we have it there.

No.

I will create a slide and insert it in and redo the video.

Good point.

me: Then I think those two will cover that portion.

hickeyk73: Okay. I am so glad you caught that.

me: next

marketing tool

hickeyk73: yes

me: "Does it synthesize your learning in this course?

hickeyk73: I do believe it does.

me: Check

Does your elevator speech focus on practicing job-embedded professional development through instructional partnerships?"

I think we took care of that tonight.

hickeyk73: I agree.

Look at last thing on that list.

I don't know if we did this.

me: I'm confusing myself

We worked on the brochure tonight

hickeyk73: Yes.

me: I think we're covered there.

hickeyk73: And I guess we did the last thing on the list.

Because that link takes us to the elementary page.

Okay.

I feel pretty good right now.

me: When I first got approved to work on the Pioneer wiki, I went in and added the info that was missing

hickeyk73: Oh, great!

me: ok

so I will add the slogan and if possible the logo to the Glogster

hickeyk73: My to do list before we meet: 1. delete comments on lesson, 2. add logo to Animoto video, 3. upload pdf brochure to both wikis

Great!

I bet you can add it since it is an image.

me: Are you going to have time to do all that?

hickeyk73: Yes.

me: I could load the brochure pdf tot the wikis\\

hickeyk73: I am probably going to do most of it in the early morning hours.

Okay.

If you will load the brochure, that would be great.

Thanks so much.

You want me to add this transcript tonight?

Then, I can delete comments tonight and work on video.

me: Sure.

hickeyk73: shouldn't be too hard

Great!

Which page?

me: Should we email it to Melissa to make sure she's in the loop?

hickeyk73: Home page because most of the content was over brochure?

Or content page?

yes, we can email her that the transcript is ready for her to read.

Then she can ask us questions.

me: I think Home page would be more appropriate.

Ok I'll send her an email too

hickeyk73: Great.

I think it is good we will meet one more time tomorrow.

It probably won't take too long either.

Just a nice capping off and closure.

me: Its at 6:30?

hickeyk73: Yes, 6:30 pm.

me: Ok

hickeyk73: Please text me if I forget.

I shouldn't but you never know.

me: see you then

I just posted the question on the DB for Dr. M about the elevator speech, asking if we need to record it with graphics. I was looking at the part of the rubric category that says, "Presentation Methods," and in the zero category it says regarding the presentation tool for the elevator speech the following: "The presentation tool is ineffective for the audience. Example: narrated PowerPoint with no graphics, animations, or pizzazz." Hopefully we will hear from Dr. M by tomorrow.

me: H

Hi, Katie.

Weird

Ok now it's working

hickeyk73: Hey

How are you?

me: Wanting a nap

mgarrison6 has opened the document.

me: How about you?

Hi Melissa.

mgarrison6: Hello!

hickeyk73: I am almost always sleepy in the afternoon.

Hi Melissa

mgarrison6: Hi

me: How are you, Melissa?

mgarrison6: I'm doing fine, how are you?

hickeyk73: Melissa, I have a question. How long did it take for you to get permission to edit the TWU Pioneer pages. I went on the link to day and requested permission to (revise) our pages for Hypatia, but I did not know how long it took or if I did it correctly.

mgarrison6: I got permission within a day or two

me: So did I.

It was not on the same day

hickeyk73: Okay

I hope figuring out how to maneuver through the wiki won't be too hard.

mgarrison6: I've heard that it is easy

hickeyk73: Since it is the weekend, I bet I won't get my approval til Monday. Do they give you a log-in?

Glad to hear that it is easy.

Here is another question I have for both of you.

mgarrison6: I think I had to set a username and password

hickeyk73: Oh, thanks for the info on the username and password

me: Did you take ISAR

?

hickeyk73: I did long, long ago.

me: LS5013

hickeyk73: My second semester

I had Dr. Yi

me: Did you have access to a PB Works wiki for the class?

hickeyk73: Or was it Lee

mgarrison6: Oh, yes. I had Perryman

hickeyk73: I don't remember--maybe?

me: I had Perryman

hickeyk73: I remember having to do a blog.

mgarrison6: No, we did not use PB Works with that class

hickeyk73: I know we did something with wikis, but I don't remember it.

mgarrison6: I had to blog also

I don

hickeyk73: I have never heard of Perryman

me: When I logged in I used the same log in as for that class which I had created at the same time as my gmail account so I could do a blog for that class.

mgarrison6: I don't think we used wikis at all

me: Hm. Maybe it was Perryman's wiki I had access to.

me: I mean her blog.

Either way my log in for that worked for this assignment.

hickeyk73: Oh, before I forget, here is a sentence I latched onto when re-reading the main assignment page:

mgarrison6: Yes, the blogs were through gmail

hickeyk73: Record and post the speech to your page on using a Web 2.0 tool. Possible tools include an illustrated VoiceThread, podcast, Voki, or xtranormal. (Illustrations must include an image or avatar of the librarian; they can also include images from the physical space of the school library.)

I noticed that she had bolded the word illustrated.

Do you think it is okay that we did a podcast without an illustration?

just wondering

mgarrison6: Does that mean we could just add some photos?

hickeyk73: Maybe I am overthinking--and what we have is fine.

I just didn't know.

mgarrison6: Her example is not illustrated

me: You got this from the instruction page?

hickeyk73: But, if we stick with the rubric then we will should be okay. She won't assess us for things not on the rubric--I don't think.

mgarrison6: The voki was used for the intro

hickeyk73: Did you see Dr. M's answer to the question we had about the way our pages should look on the DB?

mgarrison6: yes

hickeyk73: Cool

mgarrison6: that's good news

me: Huh?

hickeyk73: Yes, it is.

me: You mean that we don't need to clean up the wiki?

mgarrison6: right, we don't have to

hickeyk73: According to Dr. M, she is most concerned with the Discussion Tabs and the history pages.

mgarrison6: she is going to look at the history of it

to see that everyone contributed

me: no fears there

mgarrison6: nope

hickeyk73: Do you guys mind if I ask her about the elevator speech needing to include an "illustrated VoiceThread, podcast, etc"? I just want to double-check with her. I know the Voki and the elevator speech are different, and this instruction with the word illustrated in bold makes me feel that we need to find out for sure.

mgarrison6: that's fine. It's better to be safe than sorry

hickeyk73: so true

I will post that question after this meeting.

me: ok

mgarrison6: we could easily add some library photos if needed

hickeyk73: Melissa, I like the work you did in pulling out the benefits to teacher-librarian collaboration.

mgarrison6: I'll be subbing this week, and could take some

hickeyk73: cool

on the library photos

mgarrison6: thanks Katie, I'll be glad to put it in a chart on the new wiki

hickeyk73: I also liked the chart from Dr. M's book that lists the benefits.

mgarrison6: Yes, that was a great find!

Yes, that was a great find!

hickeyk73: Aida, I saw your question in regards to what citations do we need.

me: I noticed on Dr Ms chart in the book that one column is "For Educators"

Makes me think she referred to both the teachers and librarians in itg.

it.

Do we need to add any citations?

Or does the list that is there have all the sources our new list pulls from?

mgarrison6: I think all the citations are at the bottoms of our t-charts

hickeyk73: I answered it today, but I will revise my answers some. I don't think we need to cite our charts personally (I had said the opposite on our Discussion board). I think we just need to cite Dr. M's book and all those individual teachers or articles if we use them in the chart (the citations we made for the original charts)

mgarrison6: yes, I agree. Just a matter of cutting and pasting citations

me: I agree.

I pasted the newest versions of the brochure and resume into the wiki. Are we ready to put them in the PB wiki?

mgarrison6: I think so

I made the logo with Microsoft Paint. I don't think we would have to cite that.

hickeyk73: One thing I know that we will need to go back and do is add short introductions to our links and such (based on her announcement last week). I am already thinking how the tagxedo word clouds need to an explanation of how they will be used.

I think we should put that in there. Isn't that the protocol she was talking about?

mgarrison6: Yes, I think you are right

hickeyk73: Which reminds me that I will need to add that to those tagxedo word images.

me: An explanation?

hickeyk73: I was toying with the idea of creating a short Animoto of the benefits of library-teacher collaboration using Dr. M's chart.

What do you guys think? Should we add something like that to the Course Content page?

Oh Aida, sorry, yes, I need to add that those images were created with tagxedo

mgarrison6: Wow, an Animoto would be great, would that be a lot of work for you?

me: oh

ok

hickeyk73: Carrie martin asked me this, and I want to know what you think this means: "Did you review Dr. M's sample for formatting protocols including the information on how to download any software viewers might need.)

We thought this means that this is where you explain how you created something. For example, the tagxedo images, the Voki, the vocaroo.

mgarrison6: is that on the rubric?

me: I understood it to mean that some people may not have the tool needed to view/hear something and we should provide a link that will take them to somewhere they can download a tool they can use to view/hear it.

hickeyk73: I am not sure, but she put it in last week's announcements saying these are additional questions for your team to answer to help you use the rubric well.

Aida, what you are saying makes sense.

mgarrison6: oh

hickeyk73: So we would need to add a link to the Voki site, and the Vocaroo site and so on.

me: Hm I don't know about those

hickeyk73: On her example of librarian Perez, she has Voki.com linked underneath it.

Dr. M that is

me: I know that that I don't have the tool to view pictures stored in silver....something, ...something silver??? but I never bothered to download the tool they offer to use.

hickeyk73: Quicksilver?

mgarrison6: yes, I just saw that she has a link to Voki, a link to Quicktime, Wordle, etc.

hickeyk73: I probably don't either.

me: I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a link to the home website we use for our tools

hickeyk73: Okay, so maybe we should follow her pattern just to be safe.

me: That might be it.

mgarrison6: Yes, I think that is what she is meaning by that

hickeyk73: So we will do that.

mgarrison6: I'm glad you brought that up

hickeyk73: Okay, so time is winding down on this.

I know we need to get the course content page finished.

I wonder when we will get feedback on the lesson plans

me: I can work on adding the logo to the top of each page in Katie's wiki and on PB wiki

mgarrison6: I guess the logo would need to say:

hickeyk73: I added the logos today in my wiki based on the one you created for course content.

But I ahve not done it for the PB wiki

since I don't have access

mgarrison6: Logo created at Microsoft Paint

hickeyk73: Also, we need to change out the quesiton mark and indicate the logo was created in Microsoft Paint

Aida, you want to add the logo to the PB works pages?

And take out the question mark and replace it with the Microsoft Paint

me: Yes, I will do that

Should we add links to our LPs so we can view them while we wait for grading?

hickeyk73: I will go in and link my collaborative lesson plan and add an introductory/explanatory paragraph to it. I will also do it for the prezi I had added. When I finish that, I can take a stab at the introduction for that page.

mgarrison6: On the course content page: number 1. says:

hickeyk73: I think that is a good idea.

mgarrison6: 1. introduction to collaborative planning and lesson implementation

me: What do we do with that one?

hickeyk73: That would be a good place to have an Animoto video, don't you think?

I could use Dr. M's chart as the basis and create a simple, short one.

mgarrison6: Oh, that's what you meant Katie?!? That would be awesome!

hickeyk73: I am not an expert on those trailers, but I wouldn't mind trying to do it.

me: That would be great, Katie!

mgarrison6: I think that would be fabulous

me: Q: "Logo created by MS Paint"

hickeyk73: Also, Melissa, I will look for pictures in clip art and morguefiles, but I wouldn't mind seeing the pictures you take this week and maybe I will use them.

me: "Logo created in MS Paint"

hickeyk73: Perfect on the MS Paint

mgarrison6: ok

hickeyk73: in is better than by

me: In it is

hickeyk73: since Melissa is the "by"

me: right-o

hickeyk73: Shall we set a deadline for getting the Course Content completed?

Monday night?

Rough of course

me: On your wiki?

hickeyk73: Yes on the wiki

me: or on PB wiki

?

hickeyk73: sorry my wiki

me: Ok

hickeyk73: Then maybe Tuesday we transfer Home Page to PB wiki

mgarrison6: but I will make the chart on the PB wiki

hickeyk73: and edit/proof

Then Wed. the Course Content and edit/proof

Then Thursday the Personal Page and edit/proof

the Friday final review?

I am just throwing out a schedule, but you guys, I am open to whatever you want to do.

me: It'd due Fri.

I'd prefer to try to do the final review Thursday night

hickeyk73: Good idea about making the chart on the PB wiki, and if you guys want to start transferring the stuff over now, great. I can't until I get my approval.

me: Ok

mgarrison6: we can be transferring, while you are working on the Animoto

hickeyk73: Okay, so final review with rubric in hand as a group of three we will do the final review

mgarrison6: that sounds good

hickeyk73: By Thursday, we will want to have everything transferred over to PB wiki

Okay. How many times do we want to meet this week before Friday?

me: I'll start with the logo and everything on the personal content page. We never made any adjustments to the philosophy statement. Are we happy with it as is?

I'll also do a short intro to each piece on the personal content page.

hickeyk73: I think it is good.

The Glog is finalized?

mgarrison6: I do too

me: The glog is fini unless you see changes that can be made

hickeyk73: Okay. I haven't looked at it in awhile. I will make a point to do so before Thursday.

mgarrison6: I haven't either, I'll check it out again.

me: Ok

We don't have a BB OD to do this week do we?

mgarrison6: Aida, if you do the personal content page, I'll work on the course content page

hickeyk73: I think we do.

me: Ok

hickeyk73: It is the final one on how we are as collaborators or something like that.

I will work on the Home Page.

mgarrison6: some kind of reflection

me: I thought that is next week, the last week of class

hickeyk73: Yes.

I will have to check my calendar.

me: I just looked at the calendar ont he wiki and there is not od this week

hickeyk73: Whew.

me: next week of May 8 the first post is due on Monday and the two responses are du e Wedn

hickeyk73: Glad to know it.

When do we want to meet next?

(not rushing to end this convo, just thought to ask since I am writing dates down right now)

me: Monday is not good for me but I can meet T, W, and Th,

and tomorrow, Sun

hickeyk73: I can meet any and all of those days.

How about Tuesday?

mgarrison6: I should be able to meet any of the days

Tuesday is good

hickeyk73: that will give us time to get some work done

me: If ya'll want to meet Monday just send me an email telling me what's been done and what needs to be done I what ya'll want me to do :)

I finished copying and pasting most of our emails regarding the brochure, and I added them to the "Marketing Brochure Tweeks" thread that Aida created. I did make a mistake on the dates. I put in some of the dates from when I personally responded and not necessarily when you guys sent the email. I caught this in the end, but it shouldn't matter because the conversation pretty much follows the order of our emails. Oh well.
I added in our logo/slogan to the top of the page, and I was going to add at the top of all the pages like we are supposed to do, but guess what? I don't know how to add the trademark information. I would love for you guys to tell me how you do it in the next meeting, but also, if one of you knows how and wants to go ahead and add the logo/slogan into every page with the correct trademark info and with the sentence below saying this is an ALA trademark or whatever, feel free. But I will definitely still want to know how you guys add that "r" symbol.
