1. your Voki introduction (required)

Preliminary Voki and Intro:

Hello. I’m Hypatia Opal Dimple, librarian at Theon Elementary School in Alexandria, Texas. When we work together, reading is bound to happen, and our students will become lifelong readers and learners. Let's collaborate and discover how we can engage our students in a way that is meaningful to them and will lead them down the road to success.

Hi Aida, Melissa, I am just copy this from our Planning page and pasting the preliminary Voki intro in below:

Hello. I’m Hypatia Opal Dimple, librarian at Theon Elementary School in Alexandria, Texas. When we work together we help our students become lifelong readers and learners. Let’s discuss ways that we can engage our students in a way that is meaningful to them and ensuring that reading is bound to happen.

I like this a lot, you've used words that are really important for our Voki to contain. Here's just a slight rewording idea:
Hello. I’m Hypatia Opal Dimple, librarian at Theon Elementary School in Alexandria, Texas. When we work together, reading is bound to happen (I'm italicizing this since to draw emphasis to the fact that it's our slogan), and our students will become lifelong readers and learners. Let's discuss how ways {delete ways since we have it later on in the sentence and it sounds repetitive with it twice in one sentence and replace with how] we can engage our students in a way that is meaningful to them and will lead them down the path (or road) to [to] success.

2. elevator speech

Elevator Speech transcript:
Are you a busy teacher? Of course you are…all teachers work extremely hard every day. I was a classroom teacher myself for 11 years before becoming your school librarian, and I would like to make your teaching experience less overwhelming by partnering with you to plan, co-teach, implement technology, and/or assess whatever curriculum content lessons you desire. I’m knowledgeable about the TEKS and many inquiry processes and strategies that will create a meaningful, engaging framework to your projects. Through our collaboration, I can reduce your student-teacher ratio in half, introduce exciting new technology formats to your students, such as Web 2.0 tools, and help you lead your students to academic success while preparing them for life-long learning. I even help create useful rubrics for assessments that can really save time spent grading. If you are ready to reduce your workload and want your students participating in an enjoyable, authentic learning environment...let’s collaborate! I’m eager to begin a partnership with you!

Group consensus: We will use a podcast for elevator speech.
Are you a busy teacher? Of course you are…all teachers work extremely hard every day. I was a classroom teacher myself for 15 11 (the only reason I changed this is because at 35 years old she would have less years teaching experience if she has also been a librarian for at least a couple years. Aida, I think the change to 11 years makes sense. Good catch on that one) years before becoming your school librarian, and I would like to make your teaching experience less overwhelming by partnering with you to plan, co-teach, implement technology, and/or assess whatever curriculum content lessons you desire. I’m knowledgeable about the TEKS, and many inquiry processes and strategies that will create a meaningful, engaging framework to your projects. Through our collaboration, I can reduce your student-teacher ratio in half, introduce exciting new technology formats to your students, such as Web 2.0 tools, and help you lead your students to academic success as well as prepare them for a life of learning (Aida, Melissa, what about saying "while preparing them for life-long learning"? That way we shave off a few words but keep the content.) I even help create useful rubrics for assessments that can really save time spent grading. If you are ready to reduce your workload, and want your students participating in an enjoyable, authentic learning environment...let’s collaborate! I’m eager to begin a partnership with you! (Melissa, Aida, I am going to copy and paste this elevator speech to the Home Page, so we can use the Discussion Tabs on that page for more revisions on this).

3. a link or downloadable marketing/advocacy tool

Group consensus: We will be using a brochure from Microsoft Word.

RD8 as pdf is what is being attached to the Pioneer wiki.

Here is Brochure RD8 as Word doc:

Here is Brochure RD8 as pdf:

Here is Brochure RD7:

Here is the fifth draft of the brochure.

Here is the fourth draft of the brochure.

Here is the third draft of the brochure.

Here is the second rough draft of the brochure.

Hi Everyone,
I am adding the first draft of the brochure. It is incomplete, but I have put heading suggestions for each part, so please look at those and tell me what you think we should add or change.

4. A second marketing/advocacy tool
Here are two Tagxedo images that Ms. Dimple will post on her website and print out as posters to place in various parts of the school and at the entrance of the library. I am pasting in two images, but let me know which is best. I was thinking the hands is good because when we put our hands together we get a lot accomplished, but the bird is good because we could say something like this: "When librarians and teachers collaborate, student success soars!"

Posters for Your Classroom
You have probably seen the following posters around the school, in the library, on the library webpage, and on my in-service T-shirt. Please contact me if you would like to have one of the library-teacher collaboration posters below for your classroom.

When librarians and teachers collaborate, student success soars!
